Flash Flood Warning Released By The National Weather Service Affecting Union, IA; Ringgold, IA

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood warning for Union, IA; Ringgold, IA starting on 9/1/2018 3:22:00 AM. NWS estimates this event is ‘likely’ to happen and the event is categorized as ‘severe.’

The best action to take according to NWS is to avoid the area. Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

  • Flash Flood Warning for:
    Southern Union County in south central Iowa
    Ringgold County in south central Iowa
  • Until 1115 AM CDT.
  • At 520 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
    heavy rain across the warned area. 4 to 5 inches of rain have
    fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. An additional
    1 to 2 inches of rainfall is possible over the next two hours.

    Creston, Mount Ayr, Sun Valley Lake, Afton, Diagonal, Kellerton,
    Tingley, Arispe, Shannon City, Thayer, Ellston, Benton, Maloy,
