Tornado Warning Released by The National Weather Service Affecting Lancaster, VA; Northumberland, VA

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado warning for Lancaster, VA; Northumberland, VA starting on 2019/04/14 23:54. This event has already been observed and the event is categorized as ‘extreme.’

The best action to take according to NWS is to take shelter during this event. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a

  • Tornado Warning for:
    Southeastern Northumberland County in eastern Virginia
    Lancaster County in eastern Virginia
  • Until 345 AM EDT.
  • At 253 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
    was located over Saluda, or over Urbanna, moving northeast at 55
    mph.

    HAZARD Tornado.

    SOURCE Radar indicated rotation.

    IMPACT Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
    shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
    Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
    damage is likely.

  • This dangerous storm will be near:
    Lancaster and White Stone around 305 AM EDT.
    Kilmarnock around 310 AM EDT.
    Wicomico Church around 315 AM EDT.
    Fair Port around 320 AM EDT.

    Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include
    Byrdton, Browns Store, Weems, Regina, Mollusk, Senora, Slabtown,
    Brook Vale, Bertrand and Reedville.
