The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a

  • Tornado Warning for:
    Stokes County in north central North Carolina
  • Until 715 PM EDT
  • At 649 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
    was located over Hanging Rock State Park, moving east at 20 mph.

    HAZARD Tornado and quarter size hail.

    SOURCE Radar indicated rotation.

    IMPACT Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
    shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
    Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
    damage is likely.

  • This dangerous storm will be near:
    Danbury and Meadows around 700 PM EDT.
    Walnut Cove around 710 PM EDT.
    Sandy Ridge and Dillard around 715 PM EDT.

    Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Vade
    Mecum and Belews Lake.
