Tornado Warning issued May 26 at 4:56PM CDT until May 26 at 5:30PM CDT by NWS Goodland KS

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado warning for Thomas, KS; Rawlins, KS; Sheridan, KS; Decatur, KS starting on 2019/05/26 14:56. This event has already been observed and the event is categorized as ‘extreme.’

The best action to take according to NWS is to take shelter during this event. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a

  • Tornado Warning for:
    Northeastern Thomas County in northwestern Kansas
    Northwestern Sheridan County in northwestern Kansas
    Southeastern Rawlins County in northwestern Kansas
    Southwestern Decatur County in northwestern Kansas
  • Until 530 PM CDT.
  • At 456 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
    was located 5 miles northwest of Rexford, or 17 miles northeast of
    Colby, moving northeast at 40 mph.

    HAZARD Tornado.

    SOURCE Radar indicated rotation.

    IMPACT Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
    shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
    Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
    damage is likely.

  • Locations impacted include:
    Oberlin and Rexford.
